UPDATE: Developer eyes South Island Highway for 5-storey condo building

It looks like another condo building could be popping up along the South Island Highway in Campbell River.

Crowne Pacific Development Corp., on behalf of Veyron Properties, has proposed a five-storey, 24-unit, multi-family condominium building at 536 Island Highway South.

That’s the empty plot of land between Waterside Apartment Residences and Heron’s Landing Hotel, around 300 meters north of Rotary Beach Park.

This ‘major development proposal’ is included in city council’s upcoming meeting agenda, ready for discussion at their meeting today (Mon, Aug. 9th).

UPDATE: City council gave their approval. The City says the proposal complies with all zoning regulations and development permit guidelines.

According to the City, “The building is positioned along a north-south axis and will include ocean views and outdoor patios for all units, a fitness centre, an outdoor seating area, and secured bike and vehicle parking.”

The proposed building features a ‘contemporary architectural design’ that utilizes colour and natural elements, the City notes.

Crowne Pacific adds, “We have worked closely with WA Architecture to come up with a design that lends itself to the surrounding area. It was an important design element to ensure the building does not impose upon the surrounding area which we have achieved with low rooflines and articulation throughout the building façade.”
