One week after school resumed there are now reports of COVID-19 cases among students or staff at some Vancouver Island schools.

In Campbell River, Island Health is reporting a COVID-19 exposure at Sandowne Elementary School. According to officials, the date of potential exposure was last Tues., Sept. 7th.

When there is the possibility of an exposure, parents of students at the schools will be notified. That said, letters have also gone out to families at Brechin and Departure Bay Elementary schools in Nanaimo.

As well, there are possible exposures listed for four schools in the Cowichan Valley, a high school in Mill Bay, three schools in Victoria, and a school in Sooke.

Provincial health and safety guidelines mandate the wearing of masks for all grade four through grade 12 students, and all staff while indoors. Meanwhile, mask wearing is recommended for students in Kindergarten to grade three.
