A serious dog attack in Campbell River has left a seven-month-old puppy with painful injuries and the local BC SPCA pleading for donations.
Shih Tzu-English Springer Spaniel cross, Daryl, suffered a broken jaw after being attacked by a larger dog, the SPCA in Campbell River says.
He was surrendered to the branch by his owners so that he could receive the necessary medical treatment, which was costly.
“Daryl’s broken jaw required plating, which cost $1,650,” explains Stephanie Arkwright, branch manager. “His recovery is expected to take at least three or four more weeks.”
Despite the trauma he has experienced, Arkwright finds Daryl’s a ‘happy-go-lucky’ pup who loves everyone he meets.
“His foster family has nothing but positive things to say about him,” she says. “Daryl still loves other dogs, he gets along with cats and children.
Arkwright continues, “He hasn’t let this incident slow him down – he is a wonderful little dog and will be an amazing candidate for adoption once healed.”
