UPDATE: Power outage leaves close to 200 customers in the dark on Quadra Island

A dark and rainy start to the day on Quadra Island.

BC Hydro says close to 200 customers north of Hope Spring Rd. are currently without power because of a downed tree across its wires.

According to BC Hydro, the power has been off since 7:05 am, with crews now en route and expected to arrive at around 9:30 am.

UPDATE: BC Hydro has removed this outage from its ‘Power Outages’ list. However, five customers on the island are still without power, south-east of Vaughn Rd. and north-west of West Rd. BC Hydro says crews are on site with the power expected to be restored at around 11:30 am.
