Tom Mulcair on the Island

NDP Leader Tom Mulcair made a stop in both Nanaimo and Courtenay on Tuesday, highlighting the NDP’s plan for dealing with natural disasters.

Mulcair said wildfires and floods pose a major public safety risk.

Mulcair says the NDP would restore $7 million dollars in funding to the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program, and invest in training programs formerly provided by the Canadian Emergency Management College.

Mulcair also attended a packed Courtenay rally at the Filberg Centre.

Mulcair counted down the days to the election, calling for residents to support regional NDP candidates Rachel Blaney and Gord Johns.

Mulcair says Harper has the worst job creation record since the Second World War,  and the worst growth record since the Great Depression.
