Storm putting many on North Island in the dark

People living on Quadra and Cortes islands will be in the dark for a while yet as the windstorm blows through the region.

BC Hydro says crews are waiting for ferry service to resume, to access the islands and begin restoration efforts.

It says they’ll provide updates as they become available on its mobile site. 

Currently there are 21 outages impacting the North Island, impacting nearly 3,800 customers.

This includes one north of Brewster Lake Road due to a tree falling across wires.
