The Rotary Club of Campbell River is celebrating success. Last week, its annual ‘Pumpkins for Polio Auction’ raised over $18,000 to help with the eradication of Polio.
According to the CDC, Polio is a life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. It spreads from person to person, infecting a person’s spinal cord, causing paralysis.
Auction organizers posted some behind-the-scenes photos to the club’s Facebook page, noting this year’s event was “a very fun time for all” involved.
They’re now thanking the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for its donation, this year’s bidders for their support, and the Campbell River Arts Council for donating their time, effort, energy and talents.Â
