Wind and rain mixed in with some power outages. It’s quite a blustery day on Vancouver Island.
Environment Canada has already issued a Monday wind warning for the area, but now BC Hydro says outages are leaving thousands in the dark.
In Campbell River and north towards Sayward, 2,141 customers located east-west of Highway 19A, south of Highway 19 and north of 9th Ave. are currently without power.
This outage struck at 12:18 this afternoon with a downed power line to blame. However, BC Hydro says crews are now working to get the power restored.
Meanwhile, on Quadra Island, 818 people north of Feederspring Dr. have also been without power since 12:18 pm. BC Hydro says crews are on scene, but the cause of this outage is still under investigation.
And more recently, a 1:05 pm outage East of Harbourbrook Rd., North of Heriot Bay Rd. and south of Orian Rd. on Quadra Island is affecting 29 customers.
