Break-in at Driftwood Restaurant has RCMP searching for thief

Forget the fortune cookies, all he wanted was the cash.

A Campbell River restaurant known for its Chinese food is a little short on funds after someone broke in and raided the place.

Driftwood Restaurant general manager Chloe Klassen says staff came in Thursday (Nov. 18) morning to find out the restaurant was robbed overnight.

“They took some money and some of our stuff from the restaurant,” she tells My Campbell River Now. “There was some money in a drawer that got opened.”

According to Klassen, local police are aware of the incident. She says the suspect ripped out an entire cash register, but forget to collect his flashlight and knife before fleeing.

“We’ve got some good photos of the guy too, and then also we’ve got some fingerprints,” Klassen adds.

“They’re going to put that stuff through and hopefully find somebody.”

Anyone with information about this break and enter is urged to contact the Campbell River RCMP or Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can submit an anonymous tip online here.
