Digital upgrades abound for Campbell River’s transit system. BC Transit says NextRide is coming to town next month.
The technology allows people to access real-time information on the location of buses and when they can expect the next one to arrive at their stop.
Under a cost-sharing agreement between the province and Ottawa, BC Transit plans to install NextRide in transit systems province-wide.
NextRide will begin this month in the Cowichan Valley, followed by Campbell River in February. It will be installed for Sechelt’s regional transit system sometime this summer.
Along with real-time location data on the Transit APP or Google Maps, onboard announcements about upcoming stops will make transit more accessible, safer, and enjoyable.
