Snowfall warning issued for Comox Valley, Campbell River

A spring snowfall warning has been issued for east Vancouver Island with up to five centimetres of snow expected.

Environment Canada says the warning will extend until early this afternoon, with snow expected in Campbell River and away from the water.

The weather agency says the coast is under the influence of an unstable airmass and a low-pressure system offshore is drawing in moisture. The resulting flurries will stay in Comox until southeasterly winds strengthen and raise temperatures, according to Environment Canada.

Mainroad Contracting along with Environment Canada is asking drivers to adjust to changing conditions.

They add flurries are still expected Tuesday night.
