Fire breaks out at Campbell River car dealership, no injuries

Campbell River fire department says there are no injuries after a blaze at the Hyundai dealership in Campbell River.

Fire chief Thomas Doherty says fire crews were called to the scene for a vehicle fire at 12:49 p.m. He says crews were met with heavy black smoke as the fire was inside the dealership’s workshop.

“We were able to get our hose lines on very quickly and get a knockdown, containing the fire in the shop area,” said Doherty.

He says the damage is significant in the shop area, but a firewall between the workshop and the showroom prevented the fire from spreading further.

Doherty says there were no injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.

Crews are still on the scene and checking for any hotspots.
