RCMP seeking information after culvert pipes stolen

Police are looking for a suspect who they say stole culvert pipes from a local business.

The RCMP says Andrew Sheret Ltd. in Campbell River reported a theft of several 10 and 12-inch lengths of 20-foot culvert after midnight on Aug. 29.

They say photos were provided to police that show a caucasian man around 40 years old stealing the material in a silver Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.

The theft is one of many calls Campbell RCMP has had in the last month, according to Cst. Maury Tyre.

Tyre says police have been responding to between 65 and 80 files a day as summer comes to a close, which can create service lag time.

“At times, you may not hear back from an officer in regards to some circumstances until the following day, and it’s entirely based on the resources available and the nature of the other calls police are dealing with at the time,” said Tyre.

“We would very much like to thank the public for their patience during this busy summer season.”
