Campbell River opening warming centre with more snow on the way

With low overnight temperatures and more snow in the forecast, the Campbell River Community Centre will open tonight as a warming centre.

It will be run by the city and Coalition to End Homelessness, opening at 10 p.m. and closing tomorrow at 7 a.m.

The city says it will be staffed and run with individuals who have experience working with people experiencing homelessness to ensure good support to those attending the centre.

Funding is provided through Emergency Management BC and the city.

They add there will not be a warming centre at the community centre Saturday evening because space is not available.
