A school in Gold River is closed for the second day in a row after a precautionary recommendation from Island Health.
Ray Watkins Elementary School closed yesterday after some staff and students experienced itchiness, redness and welts. The parents of the affected students were called to pick up their kids, and the school closed for the rest of the day to investigate the cause.
The school will stay closed today under the recommendation of the health authority. Island Health says they do not think there is a significant health risk.
The Gold River Health Clinic is asking anyone with symptoms to have a shower or bathe, change into clean clothes and clean surfaces in your bedroom.
If symptoms are developed at home, they ask you to make sure you have showered and are wearing clean clothes before coming to the clinic.
