SRD hosting emergency preparedness open house Campbell River

The Strathcona regional district (SRD) is hosting an open house dedicated to teaching families how to prepare for emergencies in the City of Campbell River.

Called the Emergency Program Volunteers and Household Preparedness open house, the goal of this event is to showcase the expertise of local emergency volunteer programs, along with building awareness and resiliency around family emergency preparedness.

Multiple organizations will be present at the event, including Canadian Red Cross, Emergency Support Services, Family Disaster Preparedness, and the St. John Ambulance Brigade.

The SRD’s protective services coordinator, Shaun Koopman, says “volunteers bring various skills and resources that can be offered during a disaster and when planned for, can make an invaluable impact by increasing response capacity.”

The SRD says that those who choose to attend will be entered into a draw to win a $300 household wildfire protection sprinkler system.

The open house is scheduled for Monday, March 27 between 6:30 pm to 8:30 p.m. at the Campbell River Sportsplex on Alder Street.
