Campbell River fire department hosting open house for residents

The City of Campbell River fire department is hosting an open house for the public next week.

This open house is an annual event, with the goal of allowing firefighters to engage with residents on how to stay safe in an emergency.

Along with a fire hose practice, fire safety house tours, and equipment on display, the open house will also include a live demonstration of a vehicle rescue at 11 a.m. and a high-angle rope rescue at 1 p.m.

With this year’s open house coming after this week’s Wildfire Community Preparedness Day, the city’s Firesmart coordinator will also be at the open house to talk with the public on how to better protect your home from wildfires.

The open house is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Campbell River Fire Station, on Saturday next week.
