Two more fires in Campbell River

Two more fires occurred in Campbell River recently.

Deputy Fire Chief Thomas Doherty says on Monday, around 1 p.m., flammable materials were too close to a heat source in a home and caught on fire.

Doherty says no one was at home during the time of the fire, but neighbours called 911 when they heard the alarm.

Other than the smoke damage, there was minimal damage to the home.

Fire crews were also out Sunday morning to extinguish a garage fire on fifth avenue.

Around 6:30 in the morning, a fire began in a detached garage.

The fire was put out quickly, but the situation is still under investigation by the RCMP.
