Last night’s fireworks show in Campbell was definitely one of a kind, with cruise ships taking part in the celebration.
One brightly-lit ship passed through Johnstone Strait just before the show started, and one lucky ship full of tourists passed behind the fireworks barge as the final strains of “O Canada” accompanied the booms and lights, closing out the show.
Organizers say it was the biggest show ever done in Campbell River, and it was the biggest in BC this year. The celebration went on for a full half hour. Ostler Park was packed with people, the strait was full of onlookers on their boats, and viewers dotted the shoreline from north to south.
