The Maritime Heritage Centre is hosting a unique opportunity tomorrow to speak live with scientists on a deep-sea research vessel.
Scientists on the E/V Nautilus are heading north to gather data from the seafloor, and check on an important underwater observatory network. The underwater network is an 800-kilometre loop of fiber optic cables and sensors which collects information useful for understanding climate change, predicting earthquakes, and improving marine safety.
The team aboard Nautilus will be operating robot subs, collecting samples from the seafloor, and visiting the hydrothermal vent field off BC’s coast.
All are welcome to attend the free event in person or via Zoom. E-mail [email protected] to get the link to participate in the Zoom meeting, or to register for the viewing at the Maritime Heritage Centre.
