New activity at Newcastle Creek fire could produce more smoke

Over the weekend the Newcastle Creek Fire saw some increased activity according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The service says while it’s still considered as being held, the increased burning will result in smoke that is visible from Sayward.

One helicopter and five fire personnel actioned the fire and more resources will be assigned today.

Small children, pregnant women older adults, and those who work outside are more likely to experience adverse effects from the smoke.

The Newcastle Creek fire was discovered on May 29th and has since burned 230 hectares of land.
