Police have again seized firearms from the homeless encampment inside Nunns Creek Park.
On Saturday afternoon, police received a report of shots fired in the park, prompting a massive response. All on-duty RCMP officers responded, along with assistance from Police Dog Services and officers from BC Highway Patrol.
Police found a crowd and one person attempted to evade police by hiding. When they found him, he was near several weapons. Three firearms and ammunition were seized.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
It’s the second time this summer police have dealt with weapons violence in the park. In July police seized a hoard of firearms and fentanyl from a tent after investigating a stabbing in the downtown core.
