Council eyes user fee hike to help balance 2024 budget

Expect the cost of just about everything to go up at city hall next year, if council goes ahead with hiking user fees.

On Thursday night council is considering increasing miscellaneous fees and charges, some which haven’t been updated since 2007. The increases could provide up to $230,000 in new revenue annually, and with the city facing a projected nine per cent tax hike again next year, council is considering all options.

Staff are proposing increases to rental fees at the Community Centre and Sportsplex, which haven’t changed since 2010. They are also proposing increases to the cost of extra garbage tags, water services, city hall services, and more.

Council will discuss the proposed fee increases at tomorrow night’s meeting.
