Bus drivers and their employer reach a tentative agreement

There will no longer be a strike by bus workers, as Unifor Local 114 and PWTransit have reached a tentative agreement today.

This agreement comes after negotiations between both parties over a contract that would address the wage disparity of drivers, mechanics, and cleaners.

According to Unifor, the union representing bus workers in the Comox Valley and Campbell River, there will be a vote scheduled for Sunday this week.

Western Regional Director of the union Gavin McGarrigle says the workers have succeeded in bargaining wages and benefits that stay ahead of inflation.

More details will be available after ratification, with transit services to continue with no interruptions this week.
