The road over the Strathcona Dam will be closed for most of December, while BC Hydro continues with a seismic upgrade project.
BC Hydro says the road will be closed to all public traffic December 4 to 22, for public safety during construction and tree removal work. The work has to be done in December to avoid conflicting with bird nesting season.
Access to Long Point Campground will be unavailable during the work and temporary signage will be in place.
BC Hydro is getting the area ready for major upgrades to the dam, which will make it more earthquake-resistant. The main project starts in 2025.
