Man attacked by gun-toting ATV driver while collecting firewood

A man collecting firewood on York Road was threatened by a man with a gun, who fired the weapon before physically attacking and driving away in an ATV.

Police received a 911 call at around 1 pm on November 23, calling them to a wooded area south of Campbell River popular with ATV enthusiasts. A man collecting firewood was confronted by another man in a four-wheel ATV, commonly called a side-by-side.

Police say the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired it near the victim, then assaulted him.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old, under 6 feet tall, and has a husky build. He was operating a blue sport style side-by-side.
