Be ready to pay more for programs and services, as the City of Campbell River will update their fees and charges in the new year.
According to city manager Elle Brovold, this is the first major fee update since 2014.
“A great deal of consideration went into the review as we know that residents rely on many City services,” said Brovold.
“Updating fees and charges will allow the city to continue to deliver a high quality of service to the residents of Campbell River, better align program and service delivery with costs and comparator communities’ offerings.”
The city says that parks and recreation, water and sewer service, and curbside collection will be seeing changes to their fees and charges.
For parks and recreation, 10-visit, monthly and yearly fitness memberships will include other activities like racquetball, squash, and pickleball. New passes that have an activation date for next year will be sold at the new prices.
For water and sewer services, utility fees have been added to both miscellaneous services and services to unblock pipes, while water fees will include water-turn on fees, metre testing, and labour charges.
The city adds when you buy a blue recycling bin, it will cost $25, while garbage tag prices have gone up to $4.
These changes will come into effect on Jan. 1.
