The City of Campbell River says the warming centre at the Community Centre will be open tonight from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
It says they are opening the shelter because of the forecasted snow, despite the temperature not expected to hit the -4 degree threshold.
The centre will be open for all short stays, and visitors can bring pets on leashes and belongings. Hot drinks, snacks and seating are available, but beds will not be provided.
The city thanks all staff for their role in the cold snap.
