High river flows in Comox Valley and Campbell River

Rain and melting snow are raising water levels in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.

Stephen Watson of BC Hydro says public safety advisories have been issued for the Puntledge River, Elk Falls Canyon, and the Campbell River.

The recent rain and warm temperatures will increase the amount of water flowing into Comox Lake Reservoir and Upper Campbell Reservoir, with water levels rising the Quinsam, Browns, and Tsolum rivers.

Watson says warning signs will be in place.

The advisories will be in effect from today to February 5.
