Body discovery leads to major drug bust

The discovery of a dead body outside of town last week led police to discover a significant number of drugs, weapons and paraphernalia at a central Campbell River residence.

Campbell River RCMP and the major crime unit say they have located significant evidence of drug trafficking, scales, weapons, and cocaine during a raid in the 300 block of Cedar Street.

Police say they located over 1400 pills of Dilaudid, 150 grams of cocaine during the investigation on Feb. 14 after a warrant was issued for Indignity to a Dead Body but they have not said if anyone was arrested.

They say the investigation is still ongoing and all efforts will be made to determine if charges should be filed.

The drugs have been sent to Health Canada for analysis and efforts will be made to find out where they came from.

If anyone has information on the incident, they are asked to contact Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
