Old resort transforming into new healing centre on Quadra

A Quadra Island resort that’s been closed for years is transforming into a centre of healing.

The We Wai Kai First Nation is turning the Tsa Kwa Luten Lodge into a wellness and treatment centre. It will be owned by the band, and will provide services to Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

The plan is for separate male and female wings,  12 beds in each, with on-site medical staff. With housing on Quadra limited, the band has a 12-unit housing complex where the centre’s employees can stay.

The centre will offer medical recovery as well as Indigenous spiritual healing treatments.

They are hoping to have the first eight beds available for clients by April 1 this year.

The We Wai Kai recently asked Campbell River city council for a formal letter of support for the project; council approved the request.
