Quadra Golf Club gets RD’s blessing to expand liquor licence

Golfers on Quadra Island will likely be able to enjoy alcohol in the new restaurant and clubhouse area this summer.

The Strathcona Regional District reviewed the Quadra Golf Club owner’s application for a licence amendment late last month, along with reams of letters and emails from locals supporting the change.

The golf course can already serve liquor at the pro shop, the change will allow them to serve it in the new restaurant with a meal, or in the clubhouse after golfing.

The decision is ultimately up to the province, but liquor licence applications are first put to local governments to gauge community support. In this case, there were 46 comments from the community, all in favour.

The regional district voted in favour of formally supporting the application, a final decision will come from the province.
