Events and activities set for Campbell River on Ocean Week

As we get closer to Ocean Week, multiple events and activities will be taking place in Campbell River.

Ocean Week is an annual celebration of ocean events, learning, and engagement that includes World Ocean Day on June 8. The week aims to showcase the role the oceans play in everyday life.

Ocean Week Campbell River says events will be happening in several locations, including the Discovery Passage Aquarium and Maritime Heritage Centre.

In terms of events, you can cycle, roll, or run the 28 kilometre Greenways Loop on Loop Day, and tour the M.V. Aurora, a workboat.

You can also go on birding and conservation tours, watch Send Kelp, a documentary about climate change and food insecurity, and check out Whale Night.

They are also offering Sea School for kids, beach clean-up opportunities, a sea star survey, and a local beach seine demonstration.

The week will wrap up with a festival on June 8, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
