To improve fire safety, the City of Campbell River will be hiring a full-time Deputy Fire Chief.
In a release, the City says the decision came after they and the Strathcona Regional District signed a service agreement, where the hiring will be fully funded by the district.
The goal of the fire chief job is to not only add capacity to the city’s fire department to better support training, logistics, maintenance, and performance management, but to also enable the city to provide support to other fire departments in the district.
City manager Elle Brovold says this position would improve the safety of both residents and firefighters.
“The Deputy Chief – Safety and Training will provide support to numerous fire departments, while also focusing on training and safety needs for the City of Campbell River Fire Department,” said Brovold.
They add the chief will also manage the fire department’s training program, working with the training officer, help with logistics around facilities, equipment, and apparatus, work closely with the fire department’s Joint Health and Safety Committee, and be included in duty officer rotation.
Applications are currently open for the job, where you only have until September 4 to apply.
