One of the most popular access points for the Beaver Lodge Lands is finally getting fixed, after storms washed out part of the trail several years ago.
The province is providing nearly $110,000 to fix the stream and pond crossing near the South McPhedran Road trailhead and parking lot. Storms and high water levels caused a washout which has been partially repaired, but the trail still cannot safely accommodate wheelchairs as it did in the past. The repairs will also restore upstream fish passage.
The money is coming through the Forest Employment Program. Work is expected to be finished by the end of August.
Meanwhile the parking lot will be closed starting Monday, along with the trailhead. People enjoying the lands can use the Trask Road parking lot in the meantime.
