A special task force created to help people at-risk in the community will continue for another three years, thanks to renewed provincial funding.
Campbell River’s situation table gathers front-line workers from public safety, health and social services to meet weekly and identify high-risk individuals and connect them to services and supports. The province has provided $60,000 to allow the group to continue for three more years.
Mayor Kermit Dahl says in a statement that “Supporting a healthy and safe community is a key priority for council, and the Campbell River situation table is a great example of working across various mandates to effect positive change in [the] community.”
There are 36 similar groups operating across BC,last year Campbell River was the second-busiest in the province based on referrals.
