A plane crashed into the Puntledge River yesterday morning.
The plane was attempting to land at the Courtenay Airpark, overshot the runway and ended up in the river.
Courtenay Fire Chief Don Bardonnex says a crane was brought in to lift the plane from the water.
Bardonnex says both occupants were able to get out of the plane.
