With the future of the airport in the crosshairs of Campbell River Mayor Kermit Dahl, the city is hosting two meetings to get public input into the facility’s future.
The airport is developing a new five-year strategic plan. Dahl says he encourages everyone interested in its future to attend a meeting for a chance to speak directly with staff, council, and consultants.
The meetings will focus on how the airport can provide better service for residents, businesses, and visitors, and how it can contribute to the local economy.
Earlier this month Dahl said he ran for mayor with the goal of improving the airport.
“Improving and streamlining operations at the Campbell River Airport was one of the reasons that I ran for Council,” he said in a statement. “The five-year strategic plan will guide the future of the Campbell River Airport for years to come and it is important that we hear from residents and consider their vision when finalizing this document. I invite everyone to attend one of these sessions to talk with City staff, Council and consultants, learn about the airport and get involved in the future of YBL.”
The meetings are on September 23 and October 3.
