To support truth and reconciliation, the Strathcona Regional District is making changes to facilities.
The district has announced they will observe National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a day dedicated to honour the residential school survivors, their families, communities, and those who never returned home.
To recognize this day, the District will close their corporate office at 990 Cedar Street on September 30, with the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex to only run family events.
While swim lessons are cancelled, public swim, an everyone welcome skate, and pond hockey is open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The arena will only be open to pre-booked user groups.
They say you should observe the day by either reflecting, getting educated, and to help raise awareness.
You can also take part in the Every Child Matters Walk in Campbell River’s Spirit Square, starting at 11:00 a.m. that day.
