The City of Campbell River is asking you to avoid an area of Dogwood Street because of a fire.
They say the incident happened at 2:30 this morning, when the Campbell River Fire Department responded to a fire at Q’waxsem Place on 580 Dogwood Street.
All the residents in the building were evacuated, with firefighters managing to contain the flames to one apartment unit.
While no serious injuries were reported, you are asked to avoid the area and follow directions from city staff, emergency services personnel, and on-site security at this time.
In the meantime, the Strathcona Regional District has opened a reception Centre for affected residents to get support like food, clothing, and accommodation.
It’s located at the Campbell River Community Centre Lounge at 401-11th Avenue.
Crews are assessing the building as of this afternoon.
