UPDATE: Hydro crews brought power back for most of Campbell River, while over a thousand people got power back in Sechelt as of 3:00 p.m.
—————————————————————–
Many residents in Campbell River and the Sunshine Coast are still without power.
BC Hydro says 4,653 in Nanaimo and Sechelt, and 1,470 residents in Campbell River were without power in the morning after a windstorm on Monday.
The storm caused thousands of outages throughout the Island and Coast, with the current outages being a mix from ones that started yesterday and the ones from this morning.
BC Hydro says Nanaimo and Sechelt residents lost their power due to that storm, while the cause for most of the outages in Campbell River is still unknown
For Sechelt, the Sunshine Coast Regional District activated their Emergency Response Centre Monday night to help emergency staff provide support to those in need.
Currently most of the power has been restored for Campbell River, while Sechelt saw a 1,000-plus regain power.
Hydro hopes to bring back power to all by the end of the day.
