Campbell RIver has a new deputy fire chief.
John Baker took on the role earlier this month, which will focus on safety and training. The new position is fully-funded by the Strathcona Regional Distict.
Baker will provide support to all fire departments within the regional district, focusing on helath and safety, recruiting, training, and other logistical needs.
Baker is a life-long Campbell River resident, and first joined the fire department in 1988 as a volunteer. He was hired as a career member in 1993 and was promoted to officer in 2006.
