Power restored downtown, but Quadra ferries still holding during windy storm

The power is back on in Campbell River after this morning’s storm knocked it out downtown and in several locations for two hours.

However, around 2,000 homes on Quadra and Cortes Islands are still dark, with BC Ferries currently unable to respond. Crews are currently busy fixing outages around town and will head over to the Islands once they are available.

Ferries aren’t running anyways – all sailings this morning between Campbell River and Quadra were cancelled, with afternoon sailings cancelled until at least 3 pm this afternoon.

Communities around Duncan Bay are also without power, but BC Hydro says crews are on their way.
