Starting on Monday, crews will be out in communities south of Campbell River installing new water meters.
According to the Strathcona Regional District, the water meters will be installed on public property near the boundary of each property. No installation will take place on private property.
Residents will receive a notification letter one week before their scheduled installation date, and the contractor will provide an additional notification one hour before beginning work. A typical installation will take around three hours.
The regional district is spending nearly $3 million on the new meters, which can be read remotely, to promote water conservation and track individual water usage.
The meters will be installed for 852 properties in Area D.
Visit the regional district’s website for more information about the water meters and ongoing water conservation efforts.
