The Village of Gold River is looking to the community for ideas to help the town improve its economy, and quality of life.
After Gold River’s mill closed in 1998, the village west of Campbell River has struggled to maintain services and businesses. However, in the last decade, tourism has grown thanks to the town’s easy access to the Island’s West Coast through the Muchalat Inlet. The same feature has also made it attractive to the aquaculture industry, which operates in Nootka Sound.
The village is now asking residents for their thoughts on what makes Gold River distinctive in a way that attracts business, new residents, and visitors.
A survey for residents and local businesses is currently open until February 17, visit the village’s website for more details.
