With sub-zero temperatures in the forecast again, the city’s warming centre will be open overnight tonight and Sunday.
Located at the downtown community centre, it will be open from 10 p.m. in the evening until 7 a.m. the following morning.
The Warming Centre has staff who have experience working with the homeless, and supports are available. It’s open for people to come in, warm up, and have hot drinks and snacks. Seating is available, but not beds.
It’s meant to supplement overnight shelter beds and daytime services already available within the community, such as Kwesa Place, Evergreen Shelter and Housing, and the 40 temporary housing units with support services provided by the City and BC Housing at 1299 Homewood Road.
