With the threat of tariffs causing uncertainty and concern for local businesses, Campbell River Mayor Kermit Dahl has a message of hope.
“At times, it seems like we are powerless, but that isn’t true,” he says, in a video posted to the City of Campbell River’s social media today. “Over the next few weeks, the city’s economic development department will share updated information through our social media channels and website. We will be reaching out to hear from you about the specific challenges impacting your business.”
Dahl says the city will be doing more outreach in the coming weeks with local businesses to help them prepare and adapt.
Dahl, a small business owner himself, also called on the federal and provincial governments to step up and do what they can to make Canada and its provinces more attractive to new investment, allow for more made-in-Canada products, and help find alternative sources for materials that cannot be produced in Canada.
