Coldest Night of the Year walk raises funds for vulnerable women

The Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk was well-attended on Saturday, and there’s still time to donate to a good cause.

Diane Palmer is the executive director of the Campbell River and North Island Transition Society. She says all proceeds raised this year will help local women in need.

“This year all of our funds are being designated to the Campbell River Women’s Drop-in Centre,” she says. “It is a highly used resource in the community for vulnerable women living in poverty, and it’s also a very underfunded program, so we require the ability to bridge the funding gap that we need and this allows us to do that.”

This is the eighth year for the event in Campbell River. So far they’ve raised more than $50,000 towards their goal of $75,000.

There’s still time to donate until the end of March, visit the official event page for details.
