Alpine Road standoff ends peacefully, Campbell River RCMP

A standoff has ended peacefully in Campbell River after a person barricaded themself inside a home last week.

RCMP say they were called to a residence on Feb. 21 around 2:30 p.m. for a Mental Health emergency and thanks to help from the Vancouver Island Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Crisis Negotiators they were able to end the situation without incident.

Constable Maury Tyre says he’s grateful to everyone for their assistance and patience during the standoff.

“The Campbell River RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience during the enhanced police presence on Alpine Road,” he says. “We would also like to thank members from the ERT and the Negotiation Team, who were able to bring the situation to a peaceful conclusion.”

The standoff ended around 7:45 p.m., after the individual gave themself up to police without incident.
