Carihi students qualify for provincial Skills Canada competition

Students from Carihi and Timberline Secondary Schools brought home a host of medals from the Skills Canada North Island competition last week.

From Carihi, Dani Pimlott won gold in the digital art competition and Jett Taylor also won gold in 3D animation. The wins qualify them to compete in the provincial competition in Abbotsford on April 17, along with Kayin Dennis, who will represent the North Island in baking.

Several other Carihi students also won silver and bronze medals including Lochlan Burton who won silver for video production, and Joey Fagan and Xander De Villiers who won bronze for 3D animation.

From Timberline, Kevin Johnstone won silver in cabinet making.

Winners at the provincial level will move on to the national competition in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Skills Canada holds the competitions to encourage students to explore interests in trades and technology fields.
